I've heard a lot of reasons why we should have a colder winter this year. These really are not tales from wives, but better
described as bs from old men. Some of the logic behind these theories may be a little thin and others have some merit.
These are the top three reasons why it should be a colder winter this year. First the El Nino weather system. It's scientific data, okay. Second, hornets are making their nests lower to the ground. This was told to me by a farmer who has observed that hornets will nest lower during years with heavy snow fall or ice because the branches break off higher up. And, this final reason why we'll have a colder winter is supported by two seasoned farmers noting that the ears of corn have thicker husks this year.
