Dahlonega - Site of the First U.S. Gold Rush

Dahlonega was founded December 21, 1833. It was awarded as Preserve America's Community. It was named Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation. Dahlonega may be a small town but it's filled with antique stores and resaurants. There are major attractions to this town of Dahlonega, everything from indian shops, art galleries, restaurants. Down town Dahlonega is a popular place for most people. Many enjoy reading about the history and learning more about the town and participating in activities all across town.

Attractions:

The simple history of Dahlonega is a major attraction, historic markers, the Dahlonega Mint, and The Historic Commercial District. Dahlonega aslo holds bike races, chilli cook-offs, and corn mazes. Outdoor adventures include hiking and backpacking, wineries and vineyards, and last but not least gold mining. There are many events here celebrating all kinds of history and activities.

Dahlonega has many festivals during the year. A few being the Celtic Music festival, Mountain Flower Art Festival, and the Georgia Wine Country Festival. The local shops range from art, antiques, indian trinkets, and cafés. You can travel the town on a horse-drawn wagon ride, or attent the masquerade at the Castle. The North Georgia State & University College is just walking distance from down town. The beautiful scenery surrounds the town, and brings more activities for the outdoors.
