Before the late 1800's Toccoa was occupied by the native Cherokee Indians. Cherokee traditions suggest the name Toccoa implies great beauty. The land is very important to the people of Toccoa today as it was to the Cherokee before. The museum has a collection of local history. Toccoa is in touch with nature and preserves the Native American ways. There are festivals celebrating the land and Toccoa's history.

Toccoa Falls is located on the campus of Toccoa Falls College. You can visit the Stephens County Community Theatre, Camp Toccoa (World War II traing camp) or the Currahee Millitary Museum to see collections of artifact from WW2. Amtrak runs through Toccoa. Plan a rail trip through the Georgia Mountains this year.
